Foxconn Launches First Humanoid Robot for AI Manufacturing

Foxconn unveiled its first humanoid robot at the company's Technology Day event in Taipei. The demonstration marked a bold step for the Taiwanese giant, long known as the world's largest contract electronics manufacturer. Founded in 1974 as Hon Hai Precision Industry, Foxconn assembles everything from iPhones to gaming consoles for brands like Apple and Sony. Now, it's diving deep into robotics to tackle labor shortages and boost automation.

The robot, part of Foxconn's push into AI-driven manufacturing, stands about 1.7 meters tall and weighs around 70 kilograms. It features advanced sensors for navigation and manipulation, powered by machine learning algorithms that allow it to handle repetitive assembly tasks with precision. Engineers showcased it sorting components on a production line, moving fluidly between stations without human intervention.

This launch heats up Taiwan's growing humanoid robot race. With competitors like Hiwin Technologies supplying key parts, Foxconn aims to integrate these machines into its factories by 2027. The event, held November 21-22, drew crowds of industry leaders eager to see how such tech could reshape global supply chains.

Early tests show the robot boosting efficiency by 30 percent in simulated environments. Foxconn's CEO, Young Liu, called it a "game-changer" for sustainable manufacturing. As robotics edges closer to everyday industry, this debut signals bigger things ahead for the sector.
